The United Nations has designated days throughout the year to
specific global issues or causes. The purpose of these days is
to raise awareness of certain key issues that deeply affect our
world, particularly affecting those living in poorer parts of the world.
It is an attempt to focus international attention on these issues
and provide an opportunity to link the awareness-raising activities
of many organisations so that collectively it makes an impact on our world.
