Jubilee celebrations took place on 30 November and people travelled from far and wide to attend the festivities. Those in attendance included man of our OLA Sisters on mission in Tanzania, as well as well known female politician, Azza Hilal Hamad, of the ruling party in Tanzania.

Ms Hamad sang the praises of Sr Anne McCormack and of the OLA Sisters who continue to work with the students of the training centre.

The celebrations began with the planting of 600 trees and included sports events and friendly competitions between past and present sutdents.

Bugisi Vocational training Centre is located in the Shinyanga region of northern Tanzania , close to Didia-Lohumbo. It was founded by Sr Anne McCormack OLA back in 1996 with 22 young women enrolled.

Sr Anne McCormack, together with two Ghanaian sisters had set up a second OLA community in Bugisi two years earlier, working to provide education, health services and pastoral support to the people in the region.
