Up to 100 people took part in the annual 'Miles for Mission walk/fun run this morning, Saturday 14 October 2017.

As preparations continue ahead of the World Meeting of Families 2018, this year's Miles for Mission event got underway at 10am with a special 2km event for families.

The 5km and 10km events commenced at 10.30am in unseasonably mild conditions. Many used the walk as an opportunity to hear about the work of missionaries.

Medals were presented to all who participated, as the Autumn sunhine began to peek through the Dublin sky line.

The Miles for Mission event first took place in October 2016. According to the organisers, World Missions Ireland, the walk/fun run offers an opportunity to 'reflect on our own missionary walks in life'.

Mission Sunday will be celebrated across the world next Sunday, October 22. To mark the occasion, a special Mission Sunday Mass will be televised live on RTÉ at 11am.
