Pope's Prayer Intention for June

Pope Francis' universal prayer intention for June 2018 focuses on social networks.

The pontiff prays that 'social networks may work towards that inclusiveness which respects other for their differences'.

In the video to accompany this intention [see below], Pope Francis notes that the internet is a 'gift from God' but that it comes with a 'great responsibility'. He uses the video to highlight the good and the dangers of the internet. In the minute-long clip, Pope Francis also speaks of the importance of 'encounter' which is a central theme to his papacy. He concludes the message with a warning: that the internet does not become a place of alienation but rather a 'concrete place, a place rich in humanity'. As he speaks these words, the video cuts to a clip of two people on their phones and with their backs to each other - a common sight in today's world.
