There
are four OLA Communities in Ireland, one in each province. In
the North the Sisters maintain a presence in Rostrevor, Co. Down
. Claremorris, Co. Mayo in the West is a community in transition.
Dublin in the East and The largest OLA House in Ireland is to
be found in the South in Ardfoyle in Cork which has been in existence
since 1913.
Ardfoyle, Cork.
Ardfoyle with its capacity of around 70 spaces is the retirement
home for many Irish OLAs who have devoted their lives to the Missions
in Africa. It is also the home of the Irish Provincial Leadership
and Administration.
Many Sisters who have “Retired” from the Missions
continue to maintain a very active lifestyle in Cork, collaborating
with other groups in offering services to Assylum Seekers and
Refugees in the Cork area. Within Ardfoyle itself, a variety of
activities take place. One of the most important ministries in
Ardfoyle is the Ministry of Prayer offered by the retired Sisters
in the community. Prayer intentions from the length and breadth
of Ireland are remembered in the daily prayer routines and are
a gret source of consolation and support to those who ask to be
remembered.
Ardfoyle community offers hospitality to Sisters of other cultures
who come to Ireland to improve their English or to pursue further
studies.
Preserving
the story of the Congregation since its founding in 1876 is an
important service.

Local people join in prayer groups, and religious and social groups
use the facilities of the house for their meetings.
Dublin
Traditionally a community of hospitality for Sisters en route
to and from their overseas missions and a House of Studies for
those pursuing further studies, these two aspects of the Dublin
Community continue to be a reality today. A community of eight
Sisters serve in a wide variety of ministries ranging from Hospitality,
Missionary and Vocation Animation, Further Studies, Fund-raising,
outreach to a Rehabilitation Centre concerned with the rehabilitation
of persons suffering from addiction to alcohol and drugs and Spiritual
Guidance of Groups such as the Legion of Mary.

Rostrevor, Co. Down
In 2003 the OLA Sisters moved out of their Retreat/Holiday House
in Rostrevor to a smaller house in the same area, where they continue
Mission and Vocations Animation and Fund Raising. There are four
Sisters in the Rostrevor Community and are involved in ministries
such as Medical Locum in hospitals in the area, fund-raising activities
throughout the North, outreach to a Rehabilitation Centre for
those addicted to Alcohol and Drugs in Newry and in the care and
support of those affected by HIV and AIDS.

Claremorris, Co. Mayo.
OLA Sisters reside in Claremorris, Co. Mayo, since the recent closing of
Castlemagarrett Nursing Home which the Sisters
ran for forty years. Some of the sisters who worked in the Nursing Home
have retired to Ardfoyle, Cork, while others have moved into alternative
accommodation in Claremorris and continue their ministries
in the locality.
