There is a particular grace in preparation.

A time set aside not to rush ahead, but to listen more deeply, to pause, and to grow. In Ibadan, 24 young OLA Sisters are doing just that. They have gathered from across our international communities to take part in the Final Vows Preparatory Programme, which began on 30 June and will continue through 8 September 2025.

This time of formation opens space for prayer, learning, and shared experience. It is a time for them to explore the meaning of a lifelong commitment to God through the vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience. The days are shaped by theological input, personal reflection, and spiritual renewal. There is also space to share stories of mission, to live together in community, and to reflect on what it means to be part of a congregation that draws strength from its diversity.

Living this time in an international community brings its own depth. Conversations stretch across cultures and languages. Everyday moments – preparing meals, praying together, sitting together in silence – become part of the formation. These simple, daily rituals allow something lasting to settle in.

There is no single experience that comes out of these weeks in Ibadan. Each Sister brings her own vocation call, her own questions, her own way of listening. But they are walking together, and something transpires in the walking. The Spirit walks with them, whispering encouragement, imparting  wisdom.

In their first week, the Sisters took part in a Mission Countries Expo, offering glimpses into the lives and cultures of the places where they serve. It was a gentle reminder that while our contexts may differ, we are bound by a common call.

We ask you to join us in keeping our Sisters in our prayers as they continue to listen, discern, and prepare.

May this time together be one of clarity, courage, and quiet joy.
