Last night’s webinar hosted by AEFJN shed light on the harsh reality that, in many cultures around the world, women and girls are still treated as property and currency, with early child marriage being a stark manifestation of this practice. This devastating reality is closely linked to the prevalence of Obstetric Fistula, as young girls are forced to give birth before their bodies are ready.
Let us pause to recognise the deep wisdom and quiet strength of our elders today. Their lives have woven the fabric of our communities, offering us a grounded perspective that calls us back to what truly matters. In their stories and struggles, we find a reminder of the sacred connection between generations. May we continue to honour their presence among us, ensuring their voices guide the way as we seek to build a future that includes us all.
On this Feast of St Thérèse of Lisieux, we remember her simple but profound message of love in action. St Thérèse reminds us that even in the smallest of acts, we can make a difference when done with great love. As we go about our daily lives, may her Little Way inspire us to bring kindness, patience, and compassion into the world.
IN our prayer today we reflect on how we can live more sustainably and honour God's creation. Pray with us for the strength to make a difference.
