Evangelisation

As Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles, consecrated for mission ‘ad gentes’, we participate directly in the mission of the Church by collaborating in the building of a new world in accordance with the plan of God. We are thus ‘seeds of unity, of hope and of salvation’ (Lumen Gentium 9) especially among the poor. (Constitution 13)

Our mission ad extra enables us to live international and intercultural community life fully according to our Charism.

We see the Church’s call for a New Evangelisation as primary among the new Calls currently heard in our Province. We wish to enter fully into this thrust for a New Evangelisation, which will help to bring Gospel values alive in our country and wherever we are.

In parishes both in Africa and in Ireland, some OLAs are full-time Parish Sisters; others help with the liturgy; with parish retreats; with Basic Christian Communities; with Church groups; in the training of catechists and with various parish activities.

“To evangelize all peoples is the particular grace and vocation of the Church, her most profound identity.  She exists for evangelization.”
(Evangelii Nuntiandi 15)
