Saturday 21 October 2023 marked a joyous celebration in Ardfoyle with the opening of the Plantopia Garden. The newly erected biodome, a remarkable self-contained environment, has swiftly become the centrepiece of the Ardfoyle grounds, owing to the hard work of SHEP and the collective efforts of all our friends and partners, the International Garden Community, Horticulture LTI at Ardfoyle, and Nelson Abbey of Johnson Controls.
At its core, the International Garden project aims to provide a secure space at Ardfoyle Convent where migrant families can grow crops from their homelands, fostering a bond with the local community. The initiative involves asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants in gardening, promoting their well-being and integration into society alongside local community members.
The opening ceremony of Pantopia saw the attendance of the Minister of State for Integration, Joe O’Brien, and Deputy Lord Mayor Ken O’Flynn, who lent their support for this inclusive initiative.
As Plantopia Garden takes its first steps toward nurturing connections and sustainable practices, it stands as a symbol of unity and collaboration within the vibrant Ardfoyle community and beyond. Together, we sow the seeds of harmony and growth, envisioning a future where solidarity and sustainability go hand in hand.
