On Saturday we celebrated the significant milestones of four of our OLA Sisters—Sr Mary Agnes Ruane, marking 70 years, and Sr Maura Cranny, Sr Mary Cahill, and Sr Nora Lucey, each commemorating 60 years since their first profession in religious life. This joyous event welcomed attendees from far and wide, including England and various parts of Ireland, to honour these inspirational women who have dedicated their lives to God’s mission.

Their journey through life has taken them across continents—to Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, England, Holland, and Ireland—where their impact has been profound. Through education, nursing, catechesis, parish work, care of our Sisters, promotion of justice and peace, care of the earth, and leadership within the OLA congregation, they have touched countless lives, embodying the love of God and neighbour. Their paths have not been without challenges, but their faith and dedication have been unwavering, guided by the belief in Christ’s support and God’s ever-present love.

The celebration, which included a Mass of Thanksgiving led by Fr. Martin Kavanagh, was a tribute to their incredible service and the difference they’ve made. Their life’s work, described as a testament to Christ’s witness, love, compassion, and generosity, has been a source of inspiration to many. The community expressed its gratitude not only for the Jubilarians’ contributions but also for the support of their families, friends, and the broader congregation.

“We congratulate our four Jubilarians and we thank God for them. We thank God for calling them and for giving them the grace to journey through these years witnessing to God’s love and compassion.” ~ Sr Mary Crowley, District Leader.
