Successful Conference for CWR Ireland

The Communicators for Women Religious, Ireland, held their annual conference at the end of April. While the hope was that the conference this year would be an in-person event, the decision was taken, in the interests of safety, to host a virtual conference.

They welcomed over 60 attendees from all around Ireland, Canada, Australia and the USA.

The theme this year was Communicating Today, Telling the Good News, incorporating scripture, nature and the divine.

After the opening prayer, led my Marie Dunne CHF, Dr. Jessie Rogers, Dean of the Faculty of Theology, St. Patrick’s Pontifical University, Maynooth,  kicked off the conference with a strong and uplifting introduction to Communication from the Perspective of Scripture.  John Gibbons journalist, environmental campaigner and founder of the website climatechange.ie. gave a brief, but sobering address on Communication and Nature, bringing our attention starkly to the environmental crisis. Dr Una Agnew SSL, Professor Emeritus of Spirituality at
Milltown Institute, Dublin, and member of CWR Ireland, inspired us with her talk on Religious Presence: A Touch of the Divine.

The speakers then participated in a lively and informative panel discussion, facilitated by Dr Liz Murphy RSM, CWR Ireland member.

Attendees were given an opportunity for more intimate discussion with the speakers via breakout rooms before returning to the main room for concluding remarks and to learn more about CWR.

The conference was facilitated by Carolanne Henry, Marketing and Communications Executive for Messenger Publications.

CWR extends their sincere gratitude and appreciation to all of their sponsors, presenters, attendees, and members for ensuring a successful conference.

All conference participants are invited to attend a Zoom follow-up session for no additional fee on Monday 16 May, via Zoom.
