Congratulations to the Irish Embassy in Tanzania on winning the first Green Diplomacy award for the most progressive approach to reducing our carbon footprint in 2019.

The award is an initiative of the Irish Foreign Ministry.

Paul Sherlock, Ambassador of Ireland to Tanzania, Burundi, Seychelles, Comoros and the East African Community, tweeted that he was honoured to accept the award for the excellent team work on climate action and to green the Embassy.

Tanzania made headlines last year for introducing legislation to ban plastic bags.

It’s good to see the the Irish Embassy in Tanzania is supporting adding to and supporting local efforts to reduce their carbon footprint.
