“Be strong, stand firm, have no fear, do not be afraid of them, for Yahweh your God is going with you and will not fail you or desert you.”
~ Deuteronomy 31:8
There is nowhere in the world that God has not gone before you and prepared a way. This may be difficult to grasp given that the trials of life can be so excruciatingly painful. However, we are not promised that life will be smooth sailing and easy, what we are promised is that God “will not fail or desert” us.
We all go through times when we feel alone, that even God has abandoned us. Let us take strength in the Word. Let us maintain hope in the Word.
God calls on us to be strong. God calls on us to stand firm.
This is especially relevant today as we face so much uncertainty and violence in the world. “Have no fear, do not be afraid of them” says the Word of God. In our prayers for peace, we should remember this, and ground ourselves in our faith and the promise that we are not alone.
We may not understand things right now, but we are assured that God will never fail or desert us.
Prayer
God of Peace,
Help me to always remember that you are with me,
that You have promised to never fail or desert me.
Help me to trust You in all the small things of my life,
so that it is natural to trust You in the big things.
Take my hand and lead me
on the path that You have prepared for me.
Restore my faith daily, and ease my fears
show me the way to rest in your peace.
